ΑΓΙΟΙ ΠΑΝΤΕΣ
Η εορτή των Αγίων Πάντων τιμά όλους τους αγίους, γνωστούς και άγνωστους και εορτάζεται την πρώτη Κυριακή μετά την Πεντηκοστή, ενώ η Δυτική στις 1 Νοεμβρίου. Η παράδοση της γιορτής ξεκινά από τον 4ο αιώνα με αναφορές του Αγίου Εφραίμ του Σύρου και καθιερώθηκε οριστικά τον 6ο αιώνα. Στον 9ο αιώνα υιοθετήθηκε και από τη Δύση, επί Πάπα Γρηγορίου Δ΄. Στη χώρα μας εορτάζεται με προσκυνήματα, όπως στις κατακόμβες της Μήλου, το αρχαιότερο χριστιανικό μνημείο της χώρας. Από τη Δευτέρα μετά την Κυριακή των Αγίων Πάντων ξεκινά η νηστεία των Αγίων Αποστόλων, που διαρκεί μέχρι τις 28 Ιουνίου.

AGIOI PANDES (ALL SAINTS)
The Feast of All Saints honors all saints, both known and unknown. In the Eastern Orthodox Church, it is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost (movable date), while the Western Church observes it on November 1st. This sacred tradition dates back to the 4th century, with early references by Saint Ephraim the Syrian, and was officially established in the 6th century. By the 9th century, the feast was also adopted in the West under Pope Gregory IV. In Greece, this day is marked by devout pilgrimages as for example, at the historic Catacombs of Milos, the country’s oldest Christian monument. The day after All Saints’ Sunday marks the beginning of the Apostles’ Fast, a traditional fasting period that continues until June 28th.
